Our Approach

Compassionate, Collaborative Relationship Care

No relationship or family is without struggle. What separates those who grow from conflict from those who are consumed by it is access to the right support at the right time. Our team creates a safe, neutral space where every voice is heard and every member of the system is respected.

At Alternative Solutions Counseling, our licensed marriage and family therapists โ€” including Share Kelley (RMFT-I), Danelle Perrizo (RMFT-I), Troy Bishop (LMHC), and Gabby Lafond (LCSW) โ€” bring specialized training in relational, attachment-based, and family systems approaches to every session.

Whether you're a couple navigating a specific crisis, a blended family finding new footing, or a parent struggling to connect with a teenager, our goal is the same: help you rebuild communication, restore trust, and rediscover the love and connection that brought you together.

Is This You?

Signs Your Relationship or Family Could Benefit from Counseling

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counseling. Many of our most successful clients come in early โ€” when patterns are forming, not yet entrenched. These are the things that most often bring people through our door.

The same arguments keep repeating
A child's behavior has escalated
Feeling more like roommates than partners
Siblings in constant conflict
Trust has been broken
Parenting styles constantly clash
Intimacy has faded significantly
A family member's illness or addiction
One or both partners considers leaving
Teen is withdrawing or acting out
A major life change has caused distance
Grief or loss is pulling you apart
Communication always ends in an argument
Blended family tension won't settle

Our Process

What to Expect When You Start

Every relationship and family system is different. Our process is flexible enough to meet yours โ€” while still being structured enough to produce real, lasting results.

Free Consultation

A no-pressure call to understand your situation, answer questions, and match you with the right therapist for your relationship's specific dynamics.

Relationship Assessment

Your therapist gathers each person's perspective โ€” communication styles, conflict patterns, history, and goals โ€” to build an accurate picture without taking sides.

Shared Goals & Plan

Together, we identify what a healthier relationship actually looks like for your specific situation โ€” and map an honest path to get there.

Active Sessions

Evidence-based techniques โ€” CBT, EFT, attachment-based approaches, family systems therapy โ€” applied in session with tools you practice between appointments.

Between-Session Skills

Real growth happens at home. We give you practical tools โ€” communication exercises, de-escalation techniques, connection rituals โ€” to use in daily life.

Maintenance & Growth

We close with a relapse-prevention plan and the skills to navigate future challenges independently โ€” so the gains last long after sessions end.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Couples & Family Counseling

For couples, most sessions involve both partners โ€” that's where the most growth happens. For families, session composition often varies: some sessions include everyone, others focus on subsystems (parents only, siblings, individual child). We decide the most effective structure collaboratively. Individual sessions within the context of couples or family work can also be appropriate.
This is very common. You're welcome to come in individually first โ€” individual therapy often creates positive shifts in relationship dynamics that naturally draw a hesitant partner in over time. Sometimes framing it as "going once just to try it" reduces the barrier significantly. We're happy to discuss strategies for the conversation with a reluctant partner.
Yes. Our team includes therapists who specialize in working with children and adolescents. Share Kelley (RMFT-I) integrates play therapy, creative arts, and behavioral techniques to support children of all ages and abilities. Gabby Lafond (LCSW) particularly enjoys working with teens and young adults. Child work is often integrated with family sessions for maximum impact.
Many couples see significant improvement in 8 to 16 sessions. Family counseling varies more depending on the complexity of the system and the issues involved. We give you a realistic estimate after the initial assessment and adjust as progress unfolds. There's no pressure to continue beyond what's useful, and no arbitrary end date.
No โ€” and this is a common fear. Our therapists function as systemic thinkers, not arbiters. We work for the health of the relationship or family system, not for any individual within it. Every person's experience is validated. Our job is to help the system function better โ€” not to determine who is right.
Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions throughout Florida for couples and families. Partners can join from the same location or separately. For family sessions, members can connect from different locations when needed โ€” useful for situations involving college students, co-parents in separate homes, or family members who live apart.
We are in-network with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Carelon, Cigna, Florida Blue, Meritain, Optum, Oscar Health, UMR, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage for couples and family therapy varies by plan โ€” we verify your benefits before your first session. Self-pay is $150 per session with a sliding scale available.
Our marriage and premarital counseling page focuses specifically on couples โ€” married, engaged, or in committed partnerships. This page covers a broader scope: couples counseling at any stage, family counseling involving children or extended family, parent-child work, sibling dynamics, and multi-generational family systems. If you're unsure which fits your situation, the free consultation will clarify it.
